Action for Animals Austin

About Me

I’m Constance and I live in Austin with my husband, two kids and five dogs.  New to animal rights, I became a vegan in December 2008 after reading about how our animal food is produced, and realizing I could no longer take part in that system.  I was so horrified by what I learned about factory farms that just being vegan was not enough; I wanted to share with others what I knew, and in so doing, hopefully save more animals from lives of misery.  I joined Action for Animals and am really enjoying spending time with people who are of the same heart and mind.  The outreaches and events I have taken part in have been really fun.  AFA people are the nicest and most welcoming!

Maya Angelou wrote, “I note the obvious differences between each sort and type,
but we are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike.”  She was talking about different types of humans, but I believe the same holds true not only for human animals but for all animals.  We all have needs and wants and are capable of experiencing joy and suffering, and we all deserve dignity and respect.

I hope that some day we will look back in wonder at how we could have abused and exploited our fellow creatures on this earth; that this will be part of our evolution, just as we have realized and corrected our unfair treatment of each other.  I am thrilled to be part of this movement.
