I'm glad to report that there's another Animal Advisory Commission meeting this week and the topic of banning the retail sale of pets is on the agenda. I hope that some of us will be able to make it out to the meeting to show support for the ban!
Here's info from the forwarded email I got:
The proposed ordinance prohibiting pet stores in Austin from selling puppies and kittens from commercial breeders (puppy/kitten mills) is on the Austin Animal Advisory Commission agenda for Wednesday, July 14th. The meeting is at the Waller Creek Center (625 E. 10th Street) starting at 6 p.m.
Here's the meeting agenda.
Once the commission officially recommends the ordinance, it will go to city council for approval. This ordinance would take care of our Petland problem and prevent future puppy stores from opening in Austin! Please come out to the meeting and show your support. You can also help by emailing the members of the Animal Advisory Commission urging them to move forward with this ordinance.
