I have always been an animal lover, but i really did not understand the trials and heartbreak that animals go through everyday. My family is very old fashioned country, meaning they raised farm animals and..well you know. So growing up i did not really know what was going on around me. I actually became aware of everything about a year and half ago when i saw an episode of 30 days on FX that featured a game hunter being put into a vegan enviornment and seeing all of the horrible things that go on. From then i vowed to become a veggie and i have done tons of research and made donations to help animals. I have been skittish to participate in demos because i haven't met anyone in the community to help teach me the in's and out's. But i came across this website and i am ready to help make change. I am an Art student at Texas State Univeristy in San Marcos, and i am trying to start an animal rights group at school. The process is long and i am hoping that the group will get started before i graduate.

I saw the 30 Days episode also. Very informative and powerful. I couldn't watch parts of it (the dog scene). I'm real happy they did this show.

Nice bird :)
Hi. Welcome to our website. PETA has a student activism manual. Call them at 757-622-PETA (7382) and request a free copy. Also, feel free to call me at 512-236-9518 or email me at animallib555@gmail.com if you have any questions. The best way to learn about holding a demo is to attend one. Come to one of ours. Or, come to a leafletting event of ours. Check our EVENTS page for any upcoming action. Good luck and let us know how you're doing in San Marcos.
Welcome!
I come from a rural farming family too so I understand how shocking it can be to have your world turned upside down.
Good luck on starting the group at Texas State - please ask any questions. Organizing demos is not as hard as it might seem and they can be a great way to reach alot of people. PETA and other national groups are a great resource for materials. Maybe you can come to Austin for one of our events to get the hang of it. We would love to have you!
