Sean & I were privileged to bring our 3 employees with us on a medical mission trip to the rainforest in Peru, during July 2008. High on the list of blessings (and there were many) was getting to see local animals. Sean even swam with a bunch of piranhas !! Once the amphibious plane landed on the river, ( without pontoons, just landed belly-first in the water like a canoe!) we sailed on a medical boat up the Ucayali River from village to village, some of which had no roads, let alone cars. It was a privilege to serve our fellow man....really gave us a great perspective on what is important...and what is not....

What an amazing photo (and story)! I look forward to hearing more about this.
Yes, the dietary advice there was like none I had ever heard Dr. Carney give before. "Don't eat Iguana's, don't eat Monkeys, Don't eat Snakes, don't eat Egrets, etc. Also, drink lots of water! There was a lot of dehydration there even though it is in the midst of the Amazon rain forest the people do not have water cisterns, so they haul water up in buckets from the river. A ton of work. So, they don't want to 'waste' it by drinking it. :-(
