Yes, Errol, I agree with that, too.  I think if we can find a happy medium between unhappy captivity and unhappy abuse (which both sound like oxymorons to me), we would be happy campers (another oxymoron) ;)))

Great find Timothy -- I just posted a comment.  The article really captures the way I feel.  The core of my opposition to the circus is that these animals suffer horribly even if they are never beaten.  To be ripped away from your family and kept captive your entire life just to entertain others -- that is suffering that none of us would accept for ourselves.
