It is one thing to think advocacy. It is another to show up and do advocacy. I am still beyond touched by our visit yesterday to Sunny Day Farms outside San Antonio. What a beautiful, well run facility! Every hands on experience energizes me and makes me want to do more for the animals. Seeing these majestic creatures living the peaceful life they were meant to live at Sunny Day Farms is beyond words.
I was touched by the sweet donkeys leaning up against me for more petting, the playful goats nudging us for cuddles (and food!), a sweet blind and deaf horse trusting our touch and soaking up our loving attention...and the list goes on. These precious moments coupled with their horrific backstories make those simple moments profound.
We may tire at times, we may become overwhelmed by animal suffering, we may be tempted to turn our heads. But we can't. We are the healers, the protectors, the voice of the animals. Energizing, revitalizing experiences like the one I had at Sunny Day Farms are experiences that keep me going and keep me pushing on until all animals are treated with the love, care and respect they deserve.
It is vital that we support organizations like Sunny Day Farms who are putting advocacy into action. Visit their web site: http://www.sunnydayfarms.com/ for more information...and come join us for our next visit to Sunny Day Farms!
