VegNews just broke the news that Bob Harper of Biggest Loser fame has gone vegan:
"This week, celebrity trainer Bob Harper told VegNews that he has gone vegan, cutting all animal products out of his diet, and shared that the switch to a cruelty-free diet has improved his health. “I enjoy living a plant-based diet because it makes me feel clear headed and strong, not to mention my genetically high cholesterol dropped more than 100 points. That was all the motivation I needed,” says Harper. Famous for helping Americans slim down on NBC’s The Biggest Loser, Harper has been a longtime vegetarian, often promoting meat-free recipes. In addition to helping stars get fit and contestants shed pounds, the 44-year-old vegan trainer also teaches exercise classes through Crunch gym and has his own series of workout videos titled Bob Harper’s Inside Out Method."

This major announcement follows hot on the heels of the massive nationwide success of local Austinite Rip Esselstyn's Engine 2 Diet, which I have reported on previously (here, here, and here), not to mention professional Ironman triathlete Brendan Brazier's The Thrive Diet, and professional bodybuilder Robert Cheeke's Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness.
The message is clear: if you want to be in peak physical condition (and live a compassionate, ethical lifestyle), a plant-based diet is the way to go.
Take Action
- Call or write NBC and ask them to feature Bob's plant-based diet on Biggest Loser
- Contact Bob Harper via his web site (MyTrainerBob.com) to let him know what committing to a vegan diet has done for you
- Spread the word to everyone you know: people that know a LOT about fitness (like Bob, Rip, Brendan, and Robert) know that plant-strong is the only way to be

I'm gonna try to look for some of his workout stuff. I'm gaining more weight now that I'm getting on the years, and I could afford to lose this "beer belly" which, by the way, hasn't had any beer in it for a while;)
Good call Timothy -- I just "LIKED" his page and posted the link to this article.
You can also click "LIKE" at Bob Harper's FACEBOOK page and leave a comment and/or offer a link to a helpful website. I did! I should have left our website, but I chose another one. Maybe you can leave our website ;)

I don't watch the show but this is great news. I will contact him. Maybe he'd be willing to out on a date with me :)))
Nice article. Don't forget about nationally known vegan ultramarathoner Scott Jurek, whom I blogged about last month here on this website.
