Animal Defenders International (ADI) has just announced that the Greek government has voted to ban all circuses with any animals. Greece is the first European country to ban all circuses with animals. They join Bolivia as the second nation with this type of legislation. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is in the news for deciding to not fund Planned Parenthood, then reversing that decision. Ingrid Newkirk, co-founder of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), wrote a great piece on HuffingtonPost.com on another reason to not support the Komen Race for the Cure: they fund animal testing. Yes, I was at Wheatsville on Saturday!!! Hey, nice to meet you. To borrow a cliche, Austin's a small town. :)
Good tip on pointing out that some of the largest land creatures on the planet are vegetarians (such as elephants).

P.S. I participate in 1/2 marathons. I did my first marathon in 2008 when I was pregnant with our second son, as well as my first 1/2. This year I did two 1/2 marathons. I love to show that vegans are healthy and do not need meat to be strong. My example are the great creatures in the wild that live off of veggies only, the elephants, gorillas, pandas, etc. They are the strongest. We look forward to meeting you too.
Thanks Ernest. I love showing people that vegan kids are healthy and happy. My boys request fruit when we go to the grocery store, not the crap candy at the register. Veggie kids are the best.
