As you remember, last Thusday was Great American Meatout across the U.S. and the world. Groups involved in this event worked to educate the public about how eating meat contributes to global warming, increases our risk for heart attacks, cancer, stroke, obesity, diabetes, allergies, and other illnesses, pollutes our water, and contributes to animal abuse.
Action for Animals worked to raise awareness among our city council and mayor about the link between global warming and meat consumption by delivering free vegan and vegetarian food to city hall. We included a fact sheet plus an essay written by one of our members on the subject (http://vvviking.blogspot.com/2006/06/saving-planet-one-meal-at-time.html).
Many thanks to these restaurants for donating free food for this event. Mother's Cafe, Casa de Luz, Dhaba Joy, El Greco, and Wheatsville Coop. Next time you are in these businesses please thank the managers for their contribution.

Tony's has recently dropped veal from their menu!
This is a historic development... Tony's becomes the first Austin restaurant to eliminate veal!
So please drop by Tony's place sometime for a nice Italian vegan or vegetarian dish!
And please tell Tony THANKS for making such a kind and compassionate choice!
