RINGLING BROS CIRCUS COMING TO AUSTIN. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO STOP THEM?

Ringling Bros Circus will be at the Frank Erwin Center next week from Aug. 20-24. You can find additional info on our campaign against them while they are in town by going to our TAKE ACTION page and clicking on "stopringling." In addition, join AFA for the events listed below.
Here is our schedule of events while Ringling Bros is in Austin. Please do not wear any animal rights t-shirts for leafleting events.
Fri, Aug 22: leafleting only from 6:30pm-7:30pm on west side of Frank Erwin Center.
Sat, Aug 23: leafleting only from 10:30am-11:30am on west side of Frank Erwin Center.
Sat, Aug 23: Demonstration from 2:00pm - 3:30 pm at corner of E.15th Street/IH35 (northwest corner of that intersection), protest materials provided.
Sat, Aug 23: Leafleting only from 6:30pm-7:30pm on west side of Erwin Center.
Sun, Aug. 24: leafleting only from 12:30pm-1:30pm and 4:30pm-5:30pm on west side of Erwin Center.
Sun, Aug 24: Videotape animal walk back to trains starting at 7:30pm on south side of Erwin Center. Please bring your video cameras.
You may find parking 2 blocks west of the Erwin Center along Trinity Street between E. 15th Street and MLK for all our events. Parking may not be free. Wear confortable clothing, put on your best sunscreen, and wear hat. Please, no sunglasses unless medically necessary.
We need you to make a generous donation to Action for Animals for our campaign against Ringling Bros. Please go to our SUPPORT AFAA page for details on how to make a donation or you can call us at 512-236-9518 and someone will pick up your donation. We must raise about $1000.00 to cover our expenses for printing, costume rental, and other expenses.
Please call KAMX (owner of MIX 94.7 and MAJIC 95.5) and ask them to stop sponsoring Ringling Bros. Be polite and brief. Call Lauren Cooley at 329-6215 or email her at lcooley@entercom.com. Mention that Sears, VISA and MasterCard, and Denny's have all stopped sponsoring this circus due to animal cruelty and appeals by people who love animals. If you are a longtime listener then mention that. You can add that you will not listen to their stations unless they agree to stop being accomplices to animal cruelty by Ringling Bros.
Call KXAN (NBC) station manager, Eric Lassberg at 476-3636 (operator will transfer you) and politely ask that they not sponsor Ringling Bros Circus. You may also email him at eric.lassberg@KXAN.com. Again, be polite and brief.

NEED VOLUNTEERS AT AUSTIN ICE CREAM FEST THIS SATURDAY

Action for Animals will be gathering signatures for our petition to the city council to ban cruel devices used on elephants at tomorrow's (Saturday) Austin Ice Cream Festival. We'll be gathering signatures from 12 noon - 6 p.m. We need volunteers for 2-hours shifts starting at noon. Please call us at 512-236-9518 to volunteer. Yes, it will be very hot but we'll manage.
