Action for Animals Austin

About Me

My name is Phoenix  Morgaine and I have been taking care of animals all of my life. They have literally saved my life by being my companions, children, comforters and confidants.

From 1983 to 2010, I lived in Honolulu, Hawaii where I worked at the Hawai'ian Humane Society, Hawai'i State Animal Quarantine, Hawai'i Kai Animal Hospital and Wild Bird Rehab Haven. I was the leader of the bird team for the Animal Haven Hawai'i rescue.

At present I operate an in-home bird care service called ExotiCare Bird Companion and I volunteer at Kathy's Kitties spay/ neuter clinic.

My family includes a 25lb Snowshoe (Harry), a blue and white DSH (Mahinahina), a tabby and white DSH (Artimis), a Norwegian Forest cat (Tigger Elizabeth Kapuanani), a DMH tortoishell with 7 toes (Gypsy Madeline) and her 3 children Richard, a black DMH, Robert an orange DMH and Leia Aurora Olivia, a black DSH (who also has 7 toes). As well as a Lesser Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo named Tilly Shaka Boom Boom, a Mexican Red-Headed Amazon named ChaCha and a lutino cockatiel named Quinn. All of my kids are rescues. 

I've been described as a living anachronism and a laid-back type A personality. I don't like to watch TV or listen to the radio, preferring quirky movies, Xena Warrior Princess and world music. Pacific Rim and Latin Cuisine are da bomb!
