'Fur Is Dead' Laptop/Bumper Sticker

I was at the TJ Maxx today in the Sunset Valley shopping center looking at purses.  I found a cute, emerald green, pleather purse on sale and was ready to buy it.  Then I noticed the display of fur covered purses.  I tried to ignore them but my inner activist got the best of me and I had to go look at them.

The label said they were made of mink from Greece and the price tag said $229 so they were obviously real.  I spoke to two associates and a manager.  I told them all how upset I was that TJ Maxx was selling mink fur and that I wouldn't be back until they quit selling it.  I also called the 800 customer service number to register my complaint.  The operator who took my call was equally horrified that TJ Maxx was selling fur and said she would inform the buyer of my complaint.

If anyone else wants to call TJ Maxx to let them know you won't be shopping there until they stop selling fur that would be great.  The number is 800-926-MAXX.

Way to Go! this reminds me a few weeks ago, I was in the H-E-B in Oak Hill area and when walking out of the produce section, there at the seafood/deli area was a whole freshly killed shark on display laying on a bed of ice with a blood all around its head and coming out of its mouth, the shark was about 5 feet long. I just stopped in my tracks and my jaw dropped, I stood there for a moment making it obvious how shocking it was, then the man at the seafood counter asked if I needed any help and I asked him why they were selling shark meat, he said it was perfectly normal, it was not an endangered species of shark and its totally harmless to eat shark meat. I politely informed him that it is not safe to eat shark and I didn't think the bloodly display was appropriate, then I wrote a complaint on the forms at the front of the store, I haven't been back since but I hope they stopped selling shark meat. I wrote on the complaint that although it might not be an endangered species of shark that sharks as a whole are endagnered and glorifying their killing is inappropriate and also that selling shark meat is dangerous to human health due to the high levels of mercury.

Yes - Glad you are posting this. I'm going to call them. When JC Penny was selling fur trimmed coats I mentioned it to the manager but she didn't seem phased so I quit shopping there, e-mailed PETA, told a bunch of friends, called the 1 800 # and e-mailed to complain - I'm not sure how many people did the same but it must have been a good number because far as I know they do not sell it in their stores any more - although on-line may be a different story (not sure)....hopefully this will work for TJ Max as well...

Good for you; being so observant and persistant. I'm calling the 800 number, too.
