Veg Outreach at SXSW a huge success!

Local vegans from Action for Animals and VegAustin.com participated in an action-packed week during SXSW's music fest, distributing free vegetarian information and vegan baked goods for charity at three BrooklynVegan day parties at three live music venues. Our outreach table gained hundreds of SXSW visitors who picked up our vegetarian starter guides, VegAustin.com restaurant guides, vegan recipes, and vegan baked goods. We were excited by all the vegans, vegetarians, and veg-curious people at...

Austin Vegan Drinks is here!

I'll admit it. One of my favorite things to do is sit down with a friend and have a quality drink. My favorite drink is beer, preferably Lonestar unless I want to get fancy and order a Dos Equis with lime. Or if I'm feeling extra celebratory, I'll have a vodka and cranberry. That's why we must act on the biggest shopping day...

Tell Julian Gold: "Be Kind to Animals, Stop Selling Fur!"

No matter how stylish you are, no matter how rich you are, buying fur should not be on your winter wish list. Not according to Julian Gold, an upscale women's store in downtown West Austin that continues to sell fur. Action for Animals Austin is calling on Austinites to be fur-free so that we can help stop this brutal fur industry right here in our own city. Here's why: Millions of fur-bearing animals including foxes,...

Beef Shatters Young Woman's Life

Eating a burger can have devastating consequences for people, and this week's New York Times feature on a woman who got sick and paralyzed from eating an E.coli contaminated burger, could help convince the general public that they should forgo eating beef. The burger's manufacterer (Cargill) ended up recalling over 800,000 lbs of beef patties with mixed ingredients that made it impossible for the federal government or Cargill to trace the contamination to a specific...
