On Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and one of the nation's largest shopping days of the year, Julian Gold will open its doors to potential fur buyers. Even though more and more retailers have stopped carrying fur due to public demand, Julian Gold, a retailer in Austin, TX, carries fur coats and other fur-lined clothing that were obtained by brutal violence against feeling animals.

That's why we must act on the biggest shopping day of the year, when Julian Gold expects to make a larger profit -- this Friday, after you are stuffed from holiday eating, call Julian Gold's store directly at (512) 473-2493. Please keep it brief, remain calm, and do not curse or raise your voice. Say, "Hi, my name is <first name> and I am an Austin resident." Then use one of our talking points:

  • With the winter season approaching, I urge you to stop selling fur at your store. Here's why: Over 50 million fur-bearing animals including foxes, raccoons, minks and others are killed each year on fur farms by anal and vaginal electrocution and in the wild by drowning, trapping, or beating. Ranch-raised foxes are kept in tiny wire cages with up to four animals per cage. This cruel treatment of animals is unacceptable and I won't shop at Julian Gold if you keep selling fur.
  • To kill the animals without damaging their fur, trappers usually strangle, beat, or stomp them to death. Animals on fur farms may be gassed, electrocuted, poisoned with strychnine, or have their necks snapped. These methods are not 100 percent effective and some animals "wake up" while being skinned. There are no federal laws providing protection for the millions of animals who suffer and die on fur farms. I won't shop at Julian Gold until you quit selling fur.
  • Furs are bad for the environment. Furs are loaded with chemicals to keep them from decomposing in buyers' closets. It takes more than 15 times as much energy to produce a fur coat from ranch-raised animals than it does to produce a fake fur. Plus, the waste produced on fur farms poisons our waterways. I won't shop at Julian Gold until you go fur-free for good.

Your call really makes a difference! When compassionate shoppers like you take a stand against the fur industry by refusing to purchase its products, Julian Gold will stop selling fur. You have that power with every action you take against fur.

On Saturday, make an appearance at Julian Gold by joining Action for Animals green carpet fur-free fashion show right outside the store. More details and RSVP here. We'll have cameras and signs handy!

I'm sorry I missed the demo Saturday...how did it go?...what was the turnout like?  I had an emergency with one of my dogs who it turns out has kennel cough from being at the Humane Society a couple of weeks ago.  Of course, that means ALL my dogs have been exposed to it!!! :(((((

@Bridge: great response to her!! I can't believe that "pretty" was her excuse. How superficial can you be? Animals are being tortured for Pete's Sake!

the lady i spoke with was a jerk (big surprise, huh?). she said, "i appreciate your call but we sell a lot of pretty things here" to which i replied, "pretty is hardly significant when animals are being anally and vaginally electrocuted". DO CALL!!!!! the more people that call, the more they'll realize austin residents don't dig animal torture in the name of fashion.

I just called Julian Gold and asked if they still sell fur. They do. (I wanted to double-check) I gave the woman my bullet talking point and she didn't have any response for me except, "I'm just a cashier." She sounded nervous.

If you guys call today, you might want to ask for the manager. But I think the more people who call, it will end up getting to the manager.
